Welcome

The Einbrunger Mühle has a long-standing tradition. For more than three decades already, the mill stands for quality and innovative technology & processes when it comes to the dehusking of grains: We are separating the kernel from the husk without harming the kernel.

As one of the biggest spelt mills in Europe specialized in dehusking, we are supplying food companies worldwide with husked spelt, amelcorn, legumes, and pseudocereal of highest quality standards.

Our company

The Einbrunger Mühle is situated in the north of Duesseldorf. It is the headquarters of our company. Since 2013, we are also running a separate mill in the harbour of Neuss. The access to water allows for the direct transport by vessel.

Owing to a special dehusking technique as well as our long-standing expertise, we have become one of the largest spelt mills in Eruope specialized in dehusking. We are continuously investing in the latest processes and technologies when it comes to dehusking. This allows us to process spelt, amelcorn, legumes, and pseudocereal in both, normal as well as organic qualities.

We are ensuring grains of highest qualities as we are working with own, contractual growers that are tightly controlled. Long-standing partnerships with our suppliers guarantee the relevant experience and ensure the success of our products. We have also increased our capacities significantly over the last decades. The husked grains are sold worldwide and large, renowned companies process our product to flour, cereals, baby food, and specialty products.

History – a look back in time

The Einbrunger Mühle started its operations in 1247 as a so called “Pfaffenmühle” (priest mill) of the seminary Kaiserswerth and ensured the food supply for centuries. In 1950, we stopped the milling of flour and specialized in the following years on selling agricultural products. In the mid-80’s, Karl Rölkens, the father of today’s owner Christian Rölkens, positioned the mill in the dehusking segment and built one of the first industrial spelt dehusking mills.

Our products

Spelt
Spelt is a grain with a long tradition and some particular features: it is wholesome, has a high protein content, and a slightly nutty flavor. The kernel is encompassed in a firm husk which protects it from adverse environmental influences. Before the spelt can be grinded and processed, it has to be dehusked gently. Spelt is also being increasingly valued by consumers as the basis for a healthy nutrition. Our company offers both, normal as well as organic spelt.
